TOMSK, Dec 2 – RIA Tomsk. The junior team from club "Odysseus" from the settlement of Kopylovo of Tomsk region won the competition in slalom in category till 19 years in World Rafting Champs which takes place in Indonesia, the press service of the regional administration reported on Wednesday.
According to the Federation of rafting of Russia, in 2015 World Rafting Champs passes in Indonesia on the river Sitarik from November 29 to December 8. This year 72 crews from 24 countries of the world take part in the championship. Seven teams from Russia take part in seven of eight age categories.
"On the river Sitarik in Indonesia within World Rafting Champs competitions on slalom took place today, December 2. The team from Tomsk region "Tomsk-Odysseus" won the first place in the category till 19 years", – it is told in the message.
It is added that the Tomsk athletes won the competition, having overcome the route in 3 minutes 35 seconds, having been ahead of the silver prize-winner – team from Indonesia – for 18 seconds. The third place was taken by team from Great Britain.
According to the regional administration, Evgeny Morotsky, Pavel Melnikov, Vladimir Kozich, Kirill Belkin, Alexander Melnikov and Dmitry Zubov are part of the Tomsk team.
Kopylov teenage club "Odysseus" is the most titled Tomsk club on boating. Its students are bronze prize-winners of the World Cup 2011 in Costa Rica, world champions of 2013 (New Zealand), silver prize-winners of the World Cup 2014 (Brazil), winners of championship in Europe in 2014 (Slovakia), winners of All-Russian competitions.
