TOMSK, Dec 3 – RIA Tomsk. Two leading Tomsk higher education institutions were included into top-100 of higher education institutions of the BRICS countries made by Times Higher Education (THE) for the first time: Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) is on the 20th place, Tomsk State University (TSU) is on the 87th, is reported on the rating website.
The rating is made on the basis of 13 indicators of the universal rating, including the academic and scientific reputation, quoting of scientific publications and others. universities of 35 countries (BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings) are in top-200 of the rating, including 39 Chinese, 24 Taiwan, 16 Indian, 15 Russian, 14 Brazilian universities.

The Chinese higher education institutions headed the rating: Peking University is on the first place again, Tsinghua University is on the second. Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) rose by the third line which received the fifth place a year ago.
St. Petersburg Polytechnic University is on the second place among the Russian higher education institutions (the 18th place), TPU is the third (the 20th place) and the first among not capital Russian higher education institutions in this rating. TSU is on the ninth place among the Russian higher education institutions (the 87th).
It was reported earlier that both Tomsk higher education institutions participating in the program of increase of the international competitiveness entered top-800 of the best higher education institutions of the world according to the main rating THE, and TPU got in top-300 and became the third among the Russian universities. TSU and TPU improved the indicators in other world rating of higher education institutions – QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) where entered into group 481-490.
