TOMSK, Feb 15 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Tomsk Polytechnic University created a robot prototype for work underground; the
development is being prepared for tests, the press service of the higher
education institution reported on Monday.
It was reported earlier that JSC Moscow Metrostroy
("Mosmetrostroy") got interested in the robot, developed in TPU, for
construction of tunnels and, perhaps, will use it for works in the capital
subway.
"(The robot) can be used for creating of tunnels,
rescue of people from consequences of natural disasters and can help to build
the whole underground city. The robot was made on the basis of the Kemerovo
Experimental Mechanical-repair Plant (KEMRP)", – it is told in the
message.
It is specified that the development of polytechnicians
is unique, there are no analogs neither in Russia, nor in the world: the Tomsk
robot has rather small weight – 19 tons whereas, for example, the driving
combine weighs about 150 tons. Today the mountain equipment steadily works at
the expense of the mass of cars, and essentially other mechanism of action of
the Tomsk robot solves a problem of huge weight of such devices.

It is noted that the cost of the project amounted to 200
million rubles, it is own funds of KEMRP and the funds, allocated by the
Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation . During start of
production the cost of the robot will be about 40 million, and it is made of
domestic components.
It is added that after the testing the device can be
released in different versions . It can become the basis of p mobile complex to
rescue people from the rubble , to be useful in the subway construction , fast
and high-quality construction of communications , as well as the construction
of underground structures for various purposes.
