TOMSK, Feb 27 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State and Tomsk Polytechnic University
(TSU and TPU) have entered the 12 Russian universities, members of the
international network of the BRICS University, reported
on the website of Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
Earlier it was informed that TSU and TPU at the end of 2015 were among
the 100 best universities of the BRICS countries. In addition, over the years
Tomsk universities actively cooperate with universities and research
institutions of the BRICS countries - primarily from India and China.
"BRICS University – the joint project aimed on formation of new
generation of professionals <…> with skills of critical thinking and
abilities to make the unconventional decisions, concerning economic and social
problems, skills of interaction in the multicultural environment, and capable
to combine traditional knowledge with modern technologies", – said on the
ministry's website.

It is specified that the project is directed on creation of common
educational space of the BRICS countries and development of the academic
mobility between them, combining of countries' resources for carrying out of
joint researches, and also on improvement of education quality, which will
allow to prepare highly qualified personnel for the economies of the
participating countries.
In ministry documents states that Network University
includes TPU, TSU and 10 more universities, of which only one non-capital
university – Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia
B.N.Yeltsin.
Besides, project involves Moscow State Institute of International
Relations, Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology,
National University of Science and Technology "MISIS", Higher School
of Economics, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Peoples' Friendship
University of Russia, Saint Petersburg State University, Saint Petersburg
National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics.
