TOMSK, Mar 11 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk "walrus" Alexander Zaitsev became the best on a distance of 50 meters breaststroke at the World Swimming Championships in cold water, which passes now in Tyumen, Tomsk resident has won the first "gold" of a Tomsk team, is informed on the website of the Club of free Tomsk tourists.

"Alexander Zaitsev became the world champion on a distance of 50 meters breaststroke, and Boris Malyshev has won two medals – for the second and third place! Let's be glad for our countrymen! Hooray! There is still a swim!" – is told in the message.

As reported on the official website of the championship, Zaitsev appeared in the category of 60-64 years old, he passed the distance in 43 seconds. Along with him for the first place competed athletes from Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Slovakia and several Russian cities.

Malyshev appeared in the category of 73-79 years, on a distance of 50 meters breaststroke he took the second place, in the race at 25 meters breaststroke he was the third.

Winter Swimming World Championship passes for the 10th time, in Russia – for the first time.  It is attended by about 1.3 thousand athletes from 42 countries. The age of the oldest participant is 91, the youngest – is 9 years old.
