21 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Tomsk State University (TSU) will carry out the
analysis of public opinion of Russians under the information received from
social networks – for example, in the near future they will start to explore
the views of the residents of Tomsk region about the region, the press-service
of the university informed.
Earlier it was informed that in 2015 in TSU has been created the unique in the
Russian Federation interdisciplinary laboratory of experimental methods and
analysis of the big data in public and cognitive sciences. It was planned that
it will investigate there behavioural mechanisms (in particular,
decision-making process) on the basis of the theory of games and to analyze the
data of social networks – as a model of these mechanisms in real time.
"Its (laboratory) employees will be engaged in public opinion researches
in social networks: how it is formed, what influence it has on society as a
whole and on separate state and private structures. <…> These researches
receive today the increasing urgency: the need of various organizations and
companies in such analytical information increases", – said in the
statement.

According to the university, in the near future for the administration of the
Tomsk region scientists will start to investigate the influence of social
networks on the political and economic situation in the region. "In cooperation
is also interested a number of commercial structures and companies", –
emphasized in the university.
It is added that researches will unite experts in the field of computer
technologies who understand how it is necessary to collect, organize, store the
data, and representatives of social studies – sociologists, political
scientists, philologists, psychologists. For the technical part of the process
on handling and data storage will be used TSU supercomputer.
Earlier it was informed that access to all data, which in large quantities are
daily generated in various social networks, to TSU scientists is ready to
provide "Kribrum" company.
