develop three-dimensional models of the ships of XVII-XIX centuries on which
pioneers submitted Siberia, the press service of the higher education
institution reported.
"Scientists of laboratories of the interdisciplinary archaeological
researches "Artefact" reconstruct the Siberian historical vessels of
XVII-XIX centuries. The researchers have presented the results of their work at
the international conference "Computer Applications and Quantitative
Methods in Archeology", which took place in Oslo (Norway)", – it is
said in the message.
According to the press service, scientists from 37 countries of the world
have took part in the conference. The representatives of TSU were the only
participants from Russia.

It is specified that in Norway TSU scientists Mikhail Vavulin and Andrey
Pushkarev have submitted to the international scientific community two projects
on creation of three-dimensional models of the ships: the Ob vessel of the
first half of the 19th century and digital reconstruction of a koch – the
sailing and rowing vessel of the 17th century, which cases resisted to
compression in ices. So far scientists had no exact data on how these ships
looked.
It is noted that the Russian development of Siberia happened in many
respects thanks to development of the Northern Sea Route by Pomors, and then
advance of pioneers upstream of Ob. However still in Russia no project on
museumification and reconstruction of the Siberian historical ships was
realized.
As results of the excavation, which were carried out by scientists, about
300 original ship details of a koch have appeared. They remained in the
territory of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area. All found details scanned by
TSU scientists within two years and now by means of them three-dimensional
model of the whole koch is constructed. According to the scientists, it can be
used at reconstruction of the vessel now.
