TOMSK, Apr 22 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk universities and the
research organizations have received about 24 billion rubles from the budgetary
and non-budgetary sources in 2015, the governor Sergey Zhvachkin has reported,
submitting the annual report on work of the regional authorities.
On Friday Zhvachkin has reported to deputies of the
regional duma and the public on results of work of administration of the Tomsk
region in the past year, and also on plans for 2016.
"Financing of the Tomsk scientific and
educational complex in a year has grown by more than 14%: our universities and
the academic institutes have received 24 billion rubles of the state and
private investments", – the head of the region has told.

According to him, in 2015 Tomsk scientists have
executed 570 grants, 80% of them – according to programs of the Russian
Foundation for Basic Research and the Russian Humanitarian Science Foundation.
The governor has added that at Tomsk universities the
number of the budgetary places has grown by 8%, but, in spite of this, the
competition in the higher education institutions working in the region is still
increasing.
He has also noted that now in Tomsk universities are
studying citizens of 57 countries; in the intake of 2014 the Tomsk university
were entered by students from 49 states. According to Zhvachkin, it is
promoted, in particular, by participation of Tomsk State and Tomsk Polytechnic
Universities in the program of increase of the international competitiveness
"5-100".
In Tomsk are working six state universities, several
research institutes of Russian Academy of Sciences and dozens of the innovative
companies. Besides, many large enterprises of the region have own research
departments.
