TOMSK, Apr 28 – RIA Tomsk. The reflector for communication of spacecrafts with the Earth which is developed in Tomsk State University (TSU) will be simpler and cheaper than analogs, not inferior to them in quality of work, the press service of the university reported on Thursday.
It is specified that traditionally for communication with Earth on spacecrafts are often used parabolic reflectors. They allow to provide powerful signals both on radiation, and on reception.
"The student of radio physical faculty of TSU Artem Kamenev <…> under the leadership of RFF professor Vladimir Yakubov <…> works on model of the flat focusing reflector. <…> He has already created the model of a flat reflector and investigated influence of different parameters on its properties. <…> The flat reflector created by him costs, presumably, five times less than parabolic", – is said in the message.
It is specified that the flat reflector will be also simpler to use: it isn't so subject deformations as parabolic reflectors for which it is necessary to keep exact shape which is difficult in the conditions of space. Besides, it is simpler in the design, and also at assembly and transportation.
It is noted that in TSU also solved a problem wit reorganizations of frequencies: usually flat reflectors because of features of a design can work only in the narrow-band range, residents of Tomsk have found a way to make so that the reflector worked also in the broadband range.
It is added that the device is already patented.
