Tomsk. The team of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) "Carbon" took the third place in the international
engineering Case-in championship on geological exploration, the final passed in
Moscow; also the University won the second place in the competition
"Energy of education", the press service of the university reports on
Friday.
Earlier it was reported that TPU students won a
regional stage of the international championship on the solution of engineering
problems Case-In and will present Tomsk in the final.
It is noted that the final passed in Moscow for two
days. More than 300 students and graduate students from 39 universities of
Russia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia competed in five leagues: power industry,
mining, geological exploration, oil and gas business and metallurgy. Projects
of teams were estimated by representatives of the large Russian industrial
enterprises.
"In league on geological exploration the team of
TPU geologists "Carbon" got a bronze medal. <...> Tomsk
Polytechnic University for the second year in a row became the winner of the
competition "Energy of education" – the university received the
second place for the best organization and carrying out of the selection stage
for geological exploration", – is said in the message.

It is added that in the league on geological
exploration 12 teams submitted projects of prospecting works of Enachinsky
expected ore knot which is located in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). As a
part of the team TPU acted undergraduates Evgeny Wilhelm and Anatoly Grishin,
the graduate student Dmitry Usoltcev, led the team the associate professor of
the department of geoecology and geochemistry INR TPU Victor Domarenko.
Case-In – the only federal case championship in the
sphere of fuel and energy, mineral and raw complexes. This year competitions
take place for the fourth time; 3,5 thousand people from 37 universities of
Russia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia participate in them. 20 large industry
companies, five federal ministries, Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and Agency
for Strategic Initiatives act as partners of the championship.
