an online museum where it is possible to see ancient works of art from all
sides, and if desired – to print them on the 3D-printer, the press service of
Tomsk State University (TSU) reported on Thursday.
"The laboratory of the interdisciplinary
archaeological researches "Artefact" opened a 3D-museum "Ancient
Art of Siberia". Unlike other virtual galleries of Russia, in TSU
three-dimensional museum any user can download the pleasant exhibit then to
print it on the 3D-printer", – is said in the message.

It is noted that now in open access on the website
there are 10 objects from collections of the TSU Museum of archeology and
ethnography of Siberia, the museum of the city of Seversk and Yamal-Nenets district
museum exhibition complex named Shemanovsky (Salekhard). Further the collection
is planned to be expanded.
According to the press service, at the virtual
exhibition are presented, in particular, models of the bronze dagger of the
XVI-XV centuries B.C. found in the Omsk region, the stone sculpture
"Supplicant" of the XV-XIV centuries B.C. (a right bank of Tom at the
settlement of Samus), pendants of the IX-XI centuries of our era figurated as
the rider on a horse.
It is added that each exhibit has the detailed
description and the scientific bibliography. All models are created by the
staff of laboratory who has carried out laser three-dimensional scanning of
historical artifacts. The project causes interest both in scientists, and in
laymans.
"Before creation of the museum we placed
three-dimensional models of exhibits on the open Sketchfab platform, and people
from Italy, Germany and other countries were interested in our artifacts. In
the world there are a lot of those who just like these objects, ancient
art", – are quoted in the message the head of laboratory Olga Zaytseva.
