Tomsk. Citizens of foreign countries enter
Tomsk universities to study electrical equipment, oil and gas business,
languages and natural sciences, representatives of selection committees of
universities reported on Friday on a round table in the RIA Tomsk media center.
According to the regional administration, at the
moment applications to Tomsk universities were submitted by 4,3 thousand foreigners.
The vast majority of them – are citizens of the neighboring countries. Besides,
325 people arrived from 41 foreign countries. Transfer of foreigners in Tomsk
universities goes according to the special schedule and hasn't come to the end
yet.
"In Tomsk State University (TSU) is very big
range (of the directions interesting to foreigners), here it is even difficult
to reveal a tendency. Of course, it is language area – "Philology"
and "Journalism"; also this is natural-science direction – biology, chemistry,
mathematics, philosophy", – the responsible secretary of the TSU selection
committee Evgeny Pavlov reported.

According to the representative of Tomsk State
Pedagogical University, in this university foreigners are interested in
studying of the Russian and foreign languages, and also pedagogical education.
According to Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building, students from
foreign countries come to this university for the sake of the
"Architecture" and "Construction" directions.
"The electropower engineering specialist and
electrical equipment", "Oil and gas business" are two the most
popular (directions of Tomsk Polytechnic University) among entrants from
foreign countries. "Mechanical engineering", "Nuclear physics
and technologies" and "Information systems and technologies" are
also here, – the head of the university selection committee Vitaly Drobchik
noted.
Siberian State Medical University as earlier it was
reported, realizes the English-language program for the "Medical Business"
direction for foreigners, this year the university plans to accept 62 foreign
students. And in Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics
which trains experts for defense industry complex and the enterprises of
strategic branches, there is only one foreigner – on the "Radio
engineering" direction.
