25 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State and Tomsk Polytechnic Universities (TSU and TPU)
improved their positions in the international Round University Ranking (RUR) on
indicators of scientific activity, is reported on the Ranking website.
RUR Ranking
– is the only Russian Ranking of world universities, is published since 2010.
One of the ratings of RUR – is Research Performance Rankings – estimates
scientific efficiency, quality and official recognition of the researches
conducted in higher education institution. The Ranking is based on the base of
the Thomson Reuters agency which is one of the most authoritative sources of
information on higher educational institutions in the world;
"In
ranking are used five basic scientific indicators instead of 20 which are used
in the general world ranking. <…> List of indicators: normalized citing,
ratio of number of citings and the number of publications, ratio of number of
publications and number of scientific and pedagogical workers, scientific
reputation, publications in the international co-authorship", – is said on
RUR website.

The Ranking
included two Tomsk higher education institutions. TSU shown the seventh result
among the Russian higher education institutions – it gained 23,63 points and
risen in the general list of rating from the 644th place which it took in 2015,
to the 625th. TPU made more noticeable breakthrough, having got 16,23 points
and risen from the 712th to the 670th line; among the Russian higher education
institutions it is on the 14th place.
In total
the list included 692 educational institutions, 23 of them – are Russian. The
rating is headed by Imperial College London, California Institute of Technology
and University of Oxford.
The best of
higher education institutions of the Russian Federation in this ranking – are
National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (71,17 points, the 177th place).
Novosibirsk State University gained 51,03 points and appeared on the 351th
place (the second in the Russian Federation). Moscow Institute of Physics and
Technology (MIPT) gained 46,95 points and took the 394th place (the third in
the Russian Federation). Moscow State University leading in the majority of the
general ratings – is the Russian Federation's fourth and 401st in the world
(46,06 points).
