© РИА Томск. Павел Стефанский TOMSK, Sep 27 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) became a member of the International
Association of Universities of the Third Age (IAUTA); this community unites
higher education institutions of the different countries which work with
elderly people, the press service of TSU reported on Tuesday.
IAUTA – is the authoritative
organization which includes higher education institutions of Europe, Asia and
America. It was established in 1973.
"There will be a studying
of technologies of work with people of this age. Actually it isn't simple. For
example, we were the first in Tomsk who started free English language courses
for elderly people, and the first year of work shown us that it is necessary to
use absolutely other, special techniques", – the director of the "Open
University" center of TSU Elena Novikova is quoted in the message.
On the basis of "Open
university" several programs for people of "the third age" are
implemented: "Art of the gardener", "Lectures for office of the
Pension Fund of the Russian Federation on the Tomsk region", groups of
computer literacy and English "Age of freedom". For the first six
months of 2016 502 persons became listeners of programs.
