© с сайта Томского политехнического университета TOMSK, Oct 17 – RIA Tomsk. The undergraduate of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) offered a fuel system for the cars and UAVs using
hydrogen, which will be cheaper and safer than analogs, the press service of
the higher education institution reported on Monday.
It is explained that now hydrogen fuel is used
for cars, unmanned aerial vehicles and other devices. Water and energy are
emitted, harmful blowouts in the atmosphere do not happen; 1 liter of hydrogen
replaces 3 liters of gasoline. However, hydrogen fuel is stored with very high
pressure and the depressed temperature that makes the engine explosive.
"The polytechnician suggested to use
carbon for creation of safe "packing" of hydrogen: technical carbon
in connection with stearate is pressed in tablets then tablets are roasted and
harden. In this system the risk of spontaneous explosion is excluded", –
it is said in the message.
According to the higher education institution,
the fuel system is formed from several tablets, in which hydrogen moves under
high pressure. It gets into porous structure of the tablets and unites to
carbon, it is resulted by reaction, which sets the car in motion.
Polytechnicians also developed the installation for creation of such fuel
tablets.
It is noted that the similar system can be
installed in the car or the UAV. Presumably, such vehicles will be fueled with
hydrogen at special gas stations. It is supposed that the price of the Tomsk
system will be several times lower, than those that already exist in the world.
It is specified that the technology of
polytechnicians is unique, nobody offered such decision before. The prototype
of the system is supposed to be created in 2017. The project is implemented
within grants of the UMNIK program of Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative
Enterprises. Investors already became interested in the development.
