of Europe – University of Wroclaw plan to expand the cooperation, in particular
colleagues from Poland are interested in joint studying of life and culture of
city shamans in Siberia, the vice rector of higher education institution Artem
Rykun reported to RIA Tomsk.
He explained that TSU works with University of Wroclaw (Poland) since 2001
in the directions: paleontology, philology, history, chemistry and law.
"The matter is that historically at a turn of the XIX-ХХth centuries a
certain layer of shamans lived in urbanistic loci in Siberia. And the Polish
researcher Miroslav Kokur is engaged in this subject. He conducts cultural
researches", – Rykun told.

He specified that, most likely, shamans from Buryatia will become object of
studying. TSU specialists of the Institute of Culture and Arts and of the
Department of History can participate in the project.
According to the higher education institution, TSU is also interested in
training of specialists in the sphere of cross-cultural communications, and
University of Wroclaw together with other European higher education
institutions realizes the master program of this profile. Also the parties
intend to expand a cooperation in the field of the law.
It is added that the higher education institutions consider the possibility
to begin the joint project on digitization of the cultural heritage, which is
stored in both universities. The University of Wroclaw possesses the biggest
collection of old printing books in Europe, researchers from around the world
can get interested to access to them. And TSU library has experience of
digitization of ancient books.
