© РИА Томск. Павел Стефанский TOMSK, Nov 10 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) agreed about
creation of the research station of higher education institution in Laos by
means of which scientists will be able to study climate and the nature of this
country, the chief scientific secretary of TSU Lyudmila Borilo reported RIA
Tomsk.
According to the university, the delegation of TSU worked in Laos on November
2-7. Representatives of the university signed the memorandum of understanding
with the Laotian ministry of science and technology, agreed about the
organization of the TSU research station and discussed increase of quotas for
students.

"We are facing a global challenge - climate measuring. <…> Object of
our studying are five zones: desert, steppe, taiga, mountains and tundra, and
Laos – is very big territory rich with water resources, also there are wood and
mountains. We will be engaged in studying of the questions concerning climate,
water resources, geological variety", – the interlocutor of the agency
told.
Borilo noted that the station will be located in 80 kilometers from the capital
of Laos where for several years student's practicians are carried out. And it
means that there is already necessary infrastructure.
According to her, TSU scientists plan to make the first visit to Laos in April,
2017.
