TOMSK, Nov 18 – RIA Tomsk, Karina Sapunova. Scientists
of the Tomsk State University (TSU) work on system which will allow to create
image of university according to information from social networks; in future
technology can be used by drawing up the first Russian rating of leading
universities, head of center of perspective researches in social and cognitive
sciences Mikhail Myagkov told.
Earlier it was reported that scientists of TSU
laboratories of sciences about big data and problems of society studied
extremist communities by means of information from social networks. "Risk
groups" were selected by means of linguistic markers: key phrases of
"extremist lexicon".
"When a state invests money in university,
it needs to understand if it is
successful. We create universities to train students that they were
professionals. How can we measure this success? It is possible through
developments, communications with the industry, satisfaction of employers.
There is still very convenient area for measurements - it is a so-called image
of university in social networks", – Myagkov told.
He specified that at the first stage, as well as in a
case with studying of extremism, it is necessary to make the dictionary of
words markers. "On the basis of neural networks, machine training it will
begin to acquire various terms, phrases which belong to information which in
social networks is posted by our key participants", – the scientist
explained.

According to him, this will allow to estimate the
attitude of entrants, students and their parents to university, and reputation
of higher education institution among employers. Desire to enter the
university, satisfaction of employers with university graduates; with programs
of training, level of living conditions for students can be among criteria.
Images of the first 20 higher education institutions of the Russian Federation
are planned to be created in 2017.
Myagkov, who enters the working group on drawing up
the first Russian international rating of higher education institutions, added
that this tool can be used at assessment of higher education institutions of
Russia and of other countries participating in rating in the future.
The rector of the Moscow State University Viktor
Sadovnichii suggested to create the Moscow international rating of universities
"Three Missions of University". The first Russian rating will
estimate the educational mission and scientific work of higher education
institution, its communication with society. Results are planned to be
published next autumn.
