Programs of the Tomsk State University (TSU) for work with talented youth cover
about three thousand Tomsk school students; they are based on techniques, which
were developed for not constructed center for gifted children, Deputy Vice
Rector for Academic Affairs Elena Sukhanova reported on Thursday to RIA Tomsk.
President Putin addressed Federal Assembly of
the Russian Federation with the message on Thursday. He spoke about development
of science, production, support of talented youth, progress of the Russian army
in Syria and other questions. The president paid special attention to social
policy, in particular, to education, among other having recommended to regions
to think of creation of the centers of support for gifted children based on
universities and schools.
"The center is not only planned, we
already have it. The center works as the distributed network organization.
There was a project of lyceum for gifted children initiated by the governor,
and we actively participated in it. The project was developed, the working
group was created, and seminars were held with a number of expert teams. Then
crisis happened. But the concept became the basis of educational programs with
schools", – Sukhanova told.

She explained that the main idea of the center
is interaction with system of the general education. Programs are implemented
also on the basis of nine intermunicipal centers created by the Regional Center
of Development of Education. Programs for gifted children and for professional
development of teachers were developed within the grant, won eight years ago on
creation of the center for work with talented school students.
According to her, one of the areas of work is
the TSU Olympiad Center, which works with school students of all Siberia. It
not only organizes olympiads, but also helps children to be prepared for them,
holding visiting sessions. Besides, the higher education institution works with
federal partners – for example, is an operator of the engineering and inventive
olympiad, which are started by Bortnik's foundation.
Sukhanova added that the higher education
institution realizes educational programs for seven directions together with 57
schools of Tomsk (including philological and historical and physical and
technical). By her estimates, about three thousand children regularly
participate in work of the center across the Tomsk region.
