TOMSK, Dec 2 – RIA
Tomsk, Karina Sapunova. The Swedish researchers got interested in a possibility
of studying of the soil at the Altai base of the Tomsk State University (TSU)
in 2017, and the Spanish scientists plan to investigate mountain reservoirs
there, the director of the Center of Excellence of TSU BioClimLand Sergey
Kirpotin reported to RIA Tomsk on Friday.
Earlier it was reported that three TSU research
stations (in the gorge to Aktru in Altai, Kaybasovo in a flood plain of the Ob
and Hanymey on the Yamal Peninsula) were included into network of the
international project INTERACT uniting scientific bases in 14 countries for
studying of changes of the environment. According to Kirpotin, it assumes that
participating scientists of INTERACT can freely use the bases entering it.
"Quite recently the competition is announced
(research projects within INTERACT for 2017 – the Edition), but seven
applications for the Aktru station were already received- it is our most promoted
station. Applications are not only on studying of glaciers, which are there.
For example, the group of soil scientists from Stockholm wants to come to study
mountain soils, processes of carbon exchange in highlands", – Kirpotin
told.

According to his information, the Spanish zoologists,
studying invertebrates, and hydrologists, who explore mountain lakes, got
interested in the opportunity to work in Aktru. Not so many applications
recieved for work at Hanymey and Kaybasovo stations so far. At a time, each of
the stations can accept several groups of scientists.
"We will try to attach the experts to each of
these groups. And it is not only new experience and joint publications. It can
develop various joint projects in the long term", – the interlocutor of
the agency noted.
He added that the decision on the one, who will get to
the TSU bases in 2017, will be made at the meeting of INTERACT in January.
However, it is already clear that the Russian stations attract great interest.
"Russia is still "a white spot". Density of researches in Russia
and density of stations are the lowest. We have been isolated from the rest of
the world, weren't published in foreign languages for a long time", –
Kirpotin explained.
