entered the Europlanet consortium which main goal – is assistance to
scientists, engaged in research in the field of planetary science, the
representative of the press service of the university reported RIA Tomsk .
According to her, Europlanet 2020 Research Infrastructure (Europlanet
RI) is the big program with the budget 10 million euros financed through the
Horizon 2020 project. Participants of consortium are 72 organizations. It
represents research infrastructure which includes modern laboratories and five
grounds designed especially for planetary researches.
"Entry of TSU into Europlanet gives to university the chance to
find the European partners for the programs and to use online resources through
the program of virtual access", – the interlocutor of the agency quoted
the professor of department of astronomy and space geodesy TSU, the deputy of
consortium Galina Ryabova.

According to the press service, before joining the TSU to Europlanet
there were only three Russian organization – Moscow State University (MSU),
SINP MSU and Institute of Astronomy of RAS. Now TSU scientists will be able to
participate in grants and programs of consortium, and also in its meetings. The
vice rector for science Ivan Ivonin became the representative of TSU in
consortium. He was included into Public council of Europlanet and acquired the
right to vote.
According to the university, TSU scientists for more than 80 years
conduct researches on dynamics of small bodies of Solar system and astrometry.
They create the calculation methods helping to define precisely trajectories of
celestial motion. Now scientists develop algorithms of utilization of the
fulfilled devices of navigation satellite systems of the Russian GLONASS, the
American GPS and Chinese BEIDOU IGSO and other projects.
