TOMSK, 18 Mar – RIA Tomsk,
Evgenia Plankina. Tomsk State University (TSU)
and Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) defended their development strategies of
the universities for 2017 during the international Council of the 5-100
project; the institutions also submitted three large scientific projects to
experts to which they pay special attention this year.

TSU and TPU were included into
the 5-100 project in 2013 to which participants additional financing is
allocated for increase in the international competitiveness. It was allocated
482 million rubles to each Tomsk university in 2017.
According to the universities,
reports on the 5-100 project were presented during the Council for increase in
competitiveness of leading universities of the Russian Federation in Moscow on
March 17. Representatives of the institutions had to tell about results of
implementation of the program in 2016 and tasks for 2017 in 10 minutes, and
then to answer questions of members of the Council.

"In my opinion, our
performance attracted a keen interest from members of the Council. And their
questions helped us to look once again at developments and changes in the
university and to estimate the work", – the press service of TSU quotes
the rector Eduard Galazhinsky.
It is noted that according to
the "road map" TSU plans to improve positions in the international
ratings and to reach the level of reference universities not only by quantity,
but on quality of scientific publications in 2017. The institution will
continue to be engaged in innovative ecosystem, to develop master programs with
leading companies and system of the international partnership.
TSU also submitted three large
research projects to the Council.

"These projects are
"Superearly Diagnosis and Therapy of Oncological and Cardiovascular
Diseases", "Creation and Introduction of Cross-disciplinary
Integrated Environment of the Analysis of Data of Social Networks for the
Solution of Global Challenges of Modern Society" and "Technologies of
Functional Nanoelectronics for the New Markets and Global Scientific
Experiments", – it is explained in the message.

As press service of TPU
reported RIA Tomsk, the university has voiced results of work in 2016 during
the Council meeting, including stable growth in the rating of QS and receiving
the award of the government in the field of quality.
The university has also
submitted three scientific projects - development of technologies of treatment
of oncological diseases at late stages, heat-resisting materials for rocket and
space equipment and eco-friendly technology of combustion of coal.
"There were many
questions from members of the Council. They asked about management system in
the university, in particular, about optimization of inefficient and profile
structures. In addition, the Council was interested in the question how TPU reacts
to the changing technological way. The break of TPU in the subject ratings
connected with specializations of the university in the field of engineering
was separately noted", – the press service told.

According to the universities,
the international Council will take out the conclusion about results of work
and plans of the universities after the performances of all institutions
entering the 5-100 project.
