TOMSK, Apr 11 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State (TGU) and Tomsk Polytechnic (TPU) universities entered top-10 Russian rating of 2016-2017 on
quality of English-language content on the websites of universities of the
Russian Federation, is reported on the website of Russian International Affairs
Council conducted the analysis.
It is specified that the rating was first compiled in 2015. As authors of
rating note, "active presence in the English-speaking segment of the
Internet" is necessary for the Russian higher education institutions for
internationalization and entry into the foreign markets. TSU and TPU from 2013
participate in the project to increase the international competitiveness of
universities of the Russian Federation "5-100".
"The purpose of our work consists in showing strong and weaknesses of
development of English-language content on electronic resources of the Russian
universities. <…> Selection included 47 Russian universities (one
university more in comparison with 2015)", – is said in the message.

For assessment of the websites 108 parameters were combined into blocks: data
on higher education institution, its history, mission and strategic objectives,
possibilities of receipt and educational programs, structure, management and
employees, library, science, news, graduates, career, social life of
university, its main indicators, information for foreign partners, contacts.
"The special attention is deserved by positions of educational
institutions of Tomsk. (TSU) rose from the 10th place in rating in 2015 to the
third place, <…> get 78 points (against 52 points in the 2015th). The
university achieved high-quality break in development of the English-speaking
website. (TPU) lost the place in rating (the 8th place against the 6th), but
gained the bigger number of points (63 against 58), than in 2015", – is
noted in the message.
According to the rating, first place is still occupied by Higher School of
Economics (92 points), the second – Saint-Petersburg State University of
Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (85 points). At the same time a
part of leading higher education institutions, including TPU, showed the better
result, than some higher education institutions entering TOP 100 of one of the
most authoritative world rankings QS.
