TOMSK, Apr 20 – RIA Tomsk, Karina Sapunova. Industrial production in the
Tomsk region in 2012-2016 grew by 14%, serious dynamics was observed in the
food industry (3,3 times) and chemical production (1,4 times), the head of the
Tomsk region Sergey Zhvachkin said on Thursday during the annual report.
According to Zhvachkin, the gross regional product (GRP) in the Tomsk
region grew from 370 billion in 2012 to more than 500 billion in the 2016th. At
the same time the share of oil and gas sector in structure of GRP decreases and
now is about 30%. For this period the Tomsk industry grew by almost 14% (on
average across the Russian Federation – by 3%), production in the processing
branches – by 60% (in the country – by 2%).
On Thursday he presented to the deputies of the regional Duma and the
public the report on the results of the work of the administration of the region
for the last five years, and also told about plans for 2017.
"For the five-years period this branch (food industry) showed a growth
in 3,3 times, and now in structure of the processing productions it occupies
more than 20%. I remind that five years ago we fundamentally changed the
principles of the state support of agriculture, taking the course for
development of the sphere of deep processing of wild plants, created a cluster
of renewable natural resources", – Zhvachkin told.

He specified that the growth of the consumer market played a role in the
development of food industry. In particular, in Tomsk opened Lenta and Spark
Russia hypermarkets, came the Magnit retail network, the Tomsk network
"Yarche!" actively develops, and in the Tomsk markets opened shops of
"Gifts of Nature" where it is possible to buy local delicacies.
The head of the region marked that the significant growth – of 87,4% –
showed also the woodworking industry, in the form of raw "round
timber" exported less than 1% of the prepared wood. Also grew oil refining
(by 12%), chemical industry (1,4 times), production of machines and equipment
(2,3 times) and other.
He added that for several years there is recession
in mining which is connected with the development of mineral resources. The
development of the industry in the region is associated with the development of
hard-to-recover reserves.
