© РИА Томск. Яков Андреев TOMSK, May 24 – RIA Tomsk. The Siberian Chemical Plant (SCP, included into
the fuel company of Rosatom TVEL) plans in 2017 to launch experimental
production of titanium dioxide with a volume of finished products of 2.5
thousand tons, the CEO of the SCP Sergey Tochilin told journalists on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported that the investment council of Rosatom approved
the project to create titanium dioxide production at the SCP, which is the
basis of white paint and various dyes, including food dyes. The production will
be based on the effective fluoride technology developed at Tomsk Polytechnic
University (TPU). In Russia, according to the SCP, titanium dioxide is not produced.

As Tochilin specified, to start a pilot production the new enterprise
"Siberian Titanium" was created. SCP and Moscow Loco-bank are the
cofounders of the project.
"This year the task is to create this production for five thousand
tons per year to get the technology, to work it out and in 2017-2019 to create
a large-scale production of titanium dioxide", – said the head of the SCP,
specified that the volume of finished products will be 2,5 thousand tons per
year.
He also reported that in 2017 production will be provided by 10-12
specialists. In total, about 40 jobs will be created on the basis of the
enterprise.
According to Tochilin, the project for the construction of the plant
assumes 780 million rubles of investment, 130 million of them – are for the
creation of pilot production in 2017.
