TOMSK, May 24 – RIA Tomsk. The Department of Information Journalism
appeared at Tomsk State University (TSU), the agreement on its creation was
signed on Wednesday by the university rector Eduard Galazhinsky and the
editor-in-chief of the TASS news agency Maxim Filimonov, the correspondent of
RIA Tomsk tells.
According to the press service of the university, the new department
will be part of the Faculty of Journalism. In February 2017, the Faculty of
Journalism and the Information Policy Department of the TSU entered the new
structure – the scientific and educational center "Higher School of
Journalism".
New level of journalism
"The University always set the tasks to be the leader in the field
of science, education, and the formation of culture in the vast Siberia region
... The solution of these tasks is impossible without the development of
communication, media policy <…> The essence of today's meeting – is to
start the formation of a new consortium together with our partners, which we
call the Higher School of Journalism", – said Galazhinsky at the
presentation of the scientific and educational center.
According to him, the new center will be engaged in formation of the new
level of journalism development, as well as participating in the positioning of
the TSU brand.
Professional base
The university and the TASS news agency signed an agreement on the
creation of the basic Department of Information Journalism.

"We consider that the shortage of professional personnel is one of
the main problems facing the profession. <…> This is one of the fast
changing industries, communication, production of content ... But the inflow of
young talented people into the profession remains", – said Filimonov after
signing the agreement .
As the correspondent of RIA Tomsk reports, the agreement assumes that
the news agency will actively participate in educational process, and TASS
correspondents, in particular, will have the opportunity to enter the MA course
and postgraduate study of the journalism faculty. In addition, the cooperation
agreement between the university and Tomsk branch of the VGTRK Television and
Radio Broadcasting Company was signed.
