TOMSK, Jun 26 – RIA Tomsk.
Tomsk universities start more than ten new master programs in 2017 which will
train experts for the most perspective spheres of science and production. RIA
Tomsk suggests to get acquainted with some of them.
Earlier it was reported that reduction of number of
state funded places for a bachelor degree, but increase for a master program is
observed in the Tomsk universities in recent years: the Tomsk universities
provided 5866 places for the first step of the higher education in 2017 and
3777 places for master programs.
Ecology of the future
The problem of environment protection and saving of
natural resources is more and more urgent in the Russian Federation and in the
world, experts are demanded in the most different branches in this sphere.
Therefore a number of master programs are devoted to an ecological perspective
in the Tomsk universities.
The new master program "Biodiversity"
of Tomsk State University (TSU) is 23 courses from the Russian and foreign
scientists including the advanced knowledge in the field of environmental
protection and evolutionary biology. According to the press service of TSU,
graduates of the program will receive the competences necessary for a research
and preservation of animals and plants, many of which are under the threat of
disappearance.
"Undergraduates will have an opportunity to
acquire new knowledge, not only listening to lectures at the university, but
also during profile schools and field practices at TSU research stations, for
example, Aktra and Kaybasovo, entering into the international network of
monitoring of the Arctic – INTERACT", – the director of the Biological institute
of TSU Danil Vorobyov is quoted.

Graduates of the new master program will gain the
diploma of the master in the Biology direction and will be able to work in the
government nature protection institutions and the non-governmental
international organizations upon termination of training.
Graduates of the master program of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) "Quality of natural
waters and water treatment" who will solve complex
problems of providing the population with clear water will become not less
popular experts. At the same time it is not only about search of ways of
providing with drinking water, but also about increase in efficiency of water
purification.
Undergraduates will be able to become participants of
the international project which purpose is to solve the problem with pollution
of water in BRICS countries. According to the press service of the university,
TPU will develop the joint program with Hohai university (China) and National
Institute of Technology of Durgapur (India) within the project.
New power engineering
Use of the latest technologies in power engineering
allows to save resources and to make development of energy safer for the
environment. TPU starts the "Environmentally
friendly technologies of transformation of energy carriers"
program in 2017.
"Experts are necessary for the branch who will be
able to work with new environmentally friendly technologies, to introduce them
to existing enterprises, to investigate and create new technologies,
installations working with these technologies", – the press service of the
university quotes the deputy director on development of Power institute of TPU
Alexander Matveev.
Matveev give an example of the technology of
gasification of coal developed in Polytechnic University which allows to
transform solid fuel to generating gas. Graduates of the new master program
will study this question in detail and will be able to find work in research
institutes, the engineering and energy companies.

One more TPU profile master program is
"Technologies of hydrogen power",
intended for world-class training of specialists which will be capable to
create environmentally friendly and high-potential power sources. The program
is focused on graduates of a bachelor degree in the Power Industry and Electrical
Equipment direction.
"USA and China are engaged in production of such
energy most actively. Our master program is called for formation of experts in
Russia who will be competent of this subject", – the press service of the
university quotes the employee of the department of power supply of industrial
enterprises of TPU Mikhail Popov.
Scientists of TPU (who in particular develop elements
for development of energy from hydrogen) will participate in training of future
undergraduates. Students will gain knowledge of processes of power generation,
its transformation and ways of transfer. Potential employers of graduates of
the program are PJSC Inter RAO, PJSC Gazprom, KAMAZ Group.
Seversk institute of technology of National Research
Nuclear University MEPhI is interesting in training of specialists for hi-tech
power engineering. It will prepare specialists for the Proryv project
(Breakthrough) on creation of the newest fuel at which the nuclear power will
work after 2020. Bachelors and specialists of any universities will be able
enter the master program "Closed nuclear and fuel
cycle for the "Proryv project".
Development of regions
and "Euroasian integration"
Experts came to a conclusion long ago that strategies
of development of regions of last years became outdated, life has changed, so,
new infrastructure of the cities is necessary. Need for experts appeared who
could create such projects of development. Training of profile experts will
begin in 2017 In TSU – the program is called "Siberia:
resources and modern practices of development of regions (Russian Studies:
Siberia)".
The trained specialists will possess complex
information on the Russian regions, will be able to carry out analytical and
expert maintenance of changes in the region. Graduates of the program will be
able to work in business structures, governing bodies, expert analytical
centers and the cultural organizations.
One more TSU master program, which graduates will
precisely find work, – "Euroasian
integration". It is training for work in bodies of the
international Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) – the organization providing
freedom of the movement of goods, services, capital and labor within member
countries.

The TSU program is designed to fill the existing staff
shortage of experts for work in bodies of EEU. Its purpose is training of
managers, consultants, analysts, experts both for institutes of EEU, and for a
wide range of public authorities, commercial and non-governmental organizations
involved in integration processes within EEU.
Medicine and
innovations
Siberian State Medical University (SSMU) together with
TSU and Maastricht University (Netherlands) start the network program "Innovations and society: science,
equipment, medicine" in 2017. According to the press service of
medical university, it is experience of training of professionals, unique for
Russia, for work in the field of innovative medicine and health care, the
program includes the original author's courses which don't have analogs in
Russia.
The program training gives a chance to pass training
in Maastricht University, VU University Amsterdam and University of Plovdiv
(Bulgaria) with obtaining the official certificate.
"Graduates will have competences of the critical
analysis and an assessment of actions in health care. They will learn to
develop strategies on introduction of medical innovations, to estimate
influence of medical technologies and innovations on various aspects of human
life and society", – the press service reports.
Graduates of the master program will be able to work
both in private medical institutions, and in the international and national
institutions of health care and development among which there is, for example,
World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and Skolkovo institute.
Robot vision
Tomsk University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) in 2017 also launches a number of new master's
programs. There is "Active robot
vision" among them. According to the press service of the
university, the development of active vision systems is most demanded during
creation of intelligent robotic complexes which are able to adapt to external
conditions and work in real time.
"Active vision of robots assumes a combination of
bionic and technical approaches to system construction, when the video sensor -
the "electronic eye" - and the image processor - the "electronic
brain" - are integrated and adaptively interact to perform the specified
activity", - the press service reports.
"It is noted that the training of undergraduates
is based on the research conducted in TUSUR, therefore the program is oriented
to the scientific activity of the graduates and contains special modules and
disciplines: mathematical modeling of technical vision systems; robot vision,
programming languages for image processing and others.
Practice and employment of undergraduates is possible,
in particular, at the Tomsk innovative enterprises "Elecard Devices"
and "DiViLine".
