© с сайта "Газпром нефти" TOMSK, Sep 19 – RIA Tomsk. Gazprom Neft started studying
the Paleozoic hydrocarbon deposits in the Tomsk region, which will allow to
grow 25 million tons of recoverable reserves and 1 billion tons of geological
reserves of hydrocarbons in the region, the press service of the company
reports.
It is specified that due to the complex structure and availability of more
easily accessible objects of the Jurassic and Cretaceous age, the Paleozoic
section has not been sufficiently studied today, and the fundamental studies
that oil companies want to conduct in the Tomsk region will reveal new
regularities.
"The goal of the project – is to choose for the first time in Russia
optimal approaches for studying the oil bearing capacity of the Paleozoic
section, which will increase the efficiency of geological exploration and
reduce costs, as well as increase in this region only about 25 million tons of
recoverable reserves and more than 1 billion tons of geological hydrocarbon
reserves", – is said in the statement.

It is noted that in the fields of Gazpromneft-Vostok in the Tomsk region
from several hydrocarbon accumulation zones were identified three
characteristic zones. To study them in 2017–2019, six wells will be drilled.
Studies on the first one have already begun.
It is added that Gazpromneft is working together with Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), but expects other institutions and universities, including
Tomsk State University (TSU), to join the project. According to preliminary
estimates, the development of the deposit search technology in the pre-Jurassic
complex may take about three years.
The Paleozoic era began about 540 million years ago and lasted for 290
million years, during this period many of the largest and large-scale deposits
of coal and oil were formed.
