TSU students will assemble Rube Goldberg machine at festival in Sochi

TOMSK, Oct 20 – RIA Tomsk. The team of students of Tomsk State University (TSU) will present a machine in the final of the All-Russian competition "Goldberg Cup" which tell about life of students, using domino effect, the press service of the university reported on Friday.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, on Friday, October 20, the final of the student's engineering competitions "Goldberg Cup-2017" will take place at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi. The team of undergraduates of TSU "Siberian Impulse" which will submit the version of Rube Goldberg machine will take part in it.

"Residents of Tomsk and 10 more teams will show mechanisms in action which they developed especially for participation in competitions. Creators of the best machine will win 50 thousand rubles and a special prize – a trip to the international forum Fab14 in Toulouse (France) in 2018", – she told.

The representative of the university added that the live broadcast of the final will begin on the website of the competitions on Friday at 13:30 (Tomsk time). Online vote will be carried out in the same place, and the team which thought up the best machine, according to the audience will win a separate memorable prize.

"We want to transmit spirit of Tomsk, the student's capital of Russia via the machine. The first estimated level is get ready of a student for study and life in a dormitory, there are elements of a teapot, a shower, a brewing food. The second level is study. It is difficult at the university, therefore this part of the mechanism is the most difficult. The third level is student's rest", – the press service of TSU quoted the captain of TSU team Nikita Cheremisin.

The banner turn with the inscription "Tomsk" and photos of student's life will become final action of the mechanism, according to the interlocutor of the agency. It is supposed that the presentation will last about two minutes.

According to open sources, Rube Goldberg machine is a difficult design from usual materials which are used in the non-standard way. They are built and connected in a certain way that to carry out a simple task, for example, to turn on a bulb or to start a cracker by means of a chain of various actions constructed on domino effect.
