Materials and Technologies of Tomsk State University (TSU) started development
of new ways of dry of compressed air which will allow to increase its purity
and to reduce prime cost, the press service of the university reports on
Monday.

According to the press service, the
compressed atmospheric air is used in the power, chemical, oil and gas
industry, mechanical engineering and medicine. Emergence of condensate at
compression of air can lead to damages of the equipment and decline in quality
of the final product.
It is explained that different
sorbents including oxide of aluminum which lack is the low ability to moisture
absorption are used for drainage of air. The chemists intend to increase
functionality of active oxide of aluminum due to use of new technology of its
receiving and "modifying of surface of adsorbent ions of alkaline
metals".
"Their improved phase and
chemical composition which will provide the increased absorbing ability and
stability of work in the conditions of high concentration of vapors of water
will be feature of the offered sorbents. This development is important not only
in respect of import substitution, but also from the point of view of creation
of the export potential", – the research associate of the Centre for
Research in Materials and Technologies of TSU Evgeny Meshcheryakov is quoted.
It is added that the way of
receiving of adsorbent demands less energy consumption, gives less harmful
waste, is optimum from the point of view of ecology of production, prime cost
and quality of the final product.
It is noted also that chemists will
present the result of work in 2019. The project is supported by the Ministry of
Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
