TOMSK, Nov 28 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Jewish community resumed
construction of the House of the Jewish Youth and the Center of Tolerance on
Tuesday; it is planned that the building will be ready by the beginning of
2019, the rabbi Levi Kaminetsky reported to RIA Tomsk.
Earlier it was reported that the
Tomsk Jewish community planned to build the House of the Jewish Youth and the
Center of Tolerance at the synagogue in 2016, which are open for all residents
of Tomsk, where it will be possible to get acquainted with the Jewish culture,
to learn Hebrew and English. However, construction was suspended in the summer
of 2016 as finds of the 18-20th centuries were found in the territory of the
synagogue during archeological saving excavations.
As Kaminetsky reported, it was
necessary to receive allowing documents from the city administration for
continuation of construction. They have been received a few days ago.
"After five years of
preparation for the construction of our cultural center – acquisition of the
land plot, resettlement of families and carrying out rescue efforts on dredging
of artifacts … today (on November 28) we have started an active stage of the
construction. We will use the most modern technologies to make the center very
convenient and comfortable for all", – he said.
The interlocutor of the agency
explained that the center will become open space, which anyone will be able to
visit, available environment for disabled people will be created. It is planned
to organize children's clubs, library and the cultural center in the constructed
building.
