TOMSK, Dec 5 – RIA Tomsk. The "TPU – Schneider Electric" Competence Center, opened on Tuesday at Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), will train and retrain specialists in the field of production automation in the oil and gas sector, including Sibur and Transneft, the RIA Tomsk correspondent reports.
Schneider Electric (SE) – is the leading global developer and supplier of integrated energy-efficient solutions for energy and infrastructure, industrial enterprises, civil and residential construction, and data processing centers. Earlier it was reported that in 2012, the company signed the framework agreement on cooperation with Tomsk Polytechnic University, and in 2015 TPU became the supporting university of the company in Siberia.
"Entrant point"
"Schneider Electric is one of the recognized world leaders in the field of industrial digitalization and data protection from cyber attacks. <...> This laboratory – is the entrant point, the beginning of work on training and retraining of specialists ... Next, we plan to move to joint research and project works", – said the TPU rector Petr Chubik at the opening ceremony.
In turn, the president of Schneider Electric (SE) in Russia and the CIS Johan Vanderplaetse told journalists that the new laboratory will be not only educational audience for TPU students but also a site where the company will retrain personnel for Russian partners and conduct breakthrough researches in the field of digitalization of production.
"The first task for us – is the training of personnel for the company, and TPU for this is optimal because of the synthesis of fundamental science and applied research ... Further, on the basis of this center, we will retrain personnel for our Russian partners – Sibur, Transneft and others ... And at the third stage we will work on third generation technologies that we can finance from the SE venture fund", – he marked.

Center "stuffing"
According to the organizers, the volume of SE investment into the creation of the center amounted to more than 10 million rubles. A key element of the Competence Center training stand became the Schneider Electric Dynamic Simulation Suite (DSS) software package, which includes operator simulators (OTS), providing the ability to accurately simulate a high-reliability control system.
In addition, the training center is equipped with the latest programmable logic controller (PLC) of the High-End Modicon M580 category, which is designed to provide full integration into the Ethernet infrastructure and has the highest level of information security.
