TOMSK,
Dec 11 – RIA Tomsk. Elecard
group of companies concluded an agreement with the stadiums to ensure
the broadcast of matches of the World Cup 2018; the decision of Tomsk
residents on the video transfer will simplify the work of
commentators and will allow viewers to see a better broadcasting, the
director of Elecard Victor Shirshin reported RIA Tomsk.
Wait
with a goal
According
to Shirshin, the first broadcast path – when the image from the
stadium is sent to the commentator's booth – has been a headache for
broadcasters in recent years: equipment for SDI signal transmitting
(ie, uncompressed high-definition format) from TV companies to
commentator sites with a minimum delay is very expensive.
"The
minimum time delay is important because the commentator can
immediately receive a picture from the field, comment on it, and it
leaves in real time to the viewer on the second broadcast path", – explains Shirshin.
If
there is a delay in video transmission, the quality of the reportage
on the air can suffer greatly.

"Imagine
the situation: the commentator sits in a booth, looks at his monitor,
the players score a goal, the bleachers explode, and the commentator
on the monitor (and hence the viewer on the television) still has no
goal. It costs great efforts to commentator not to scream together
with stadium these one-two seconds", – Shirshin gives an
example.
Worked
for a bang
Within
preparation for the summer FIFA Confederations Cup in Moscow, the
stadiums, which are operators of the competitions under the auspices
of the FIFA (International Federation of Association Football – Ed.),
tested various solutions that would meet FIFA's technical
requirements for broadcasting.
More
than ten companies – leaders of the global market in the field of
video processing and transmission, including Elecard – participated
in the tests. The best result was for Tomsk citizens.
"We
presented a video compression and delivery system that provided a
minimum delay – of 220 milliseconds from the removal of the SDI
signal to a digital television receiver, for the commentator these
1/5 seconds are almost invisible. At the FIFA Confederations Cup in
2017, everything worked out with a bang", – told the director of
Elecard.
Shirshin
said that the FIFA approved the prolongation of the "Elecard"
contracts with the stadium operators of the FIFA events and the
World Cup 2018. The other day, the parties signed them. The cost of
contracts is not disclosed.
The
main football competitions of the planet will be held in June-July
2018, the matches will be held at stadiums in 11 Russian cities:
Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Ekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod,
Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd and Kaliningrad.
