TOMSK, Feb 11 – RIA Tomsk. Selkup camp and a cult
place will fill up the exposition of the Museum of Selkup Culture and Life in
the village of Parabel of the Tomsk region; it is planned that new facilities
will appear for the festival "Etudes of the North", the head of the
culture department of Parabel district administration Irina Fokina informed RIA
Tomsk.
Earlier it was reported that the museum of the Selkup
culture in the open air "Chumel Chvach" was opened in 2016 within the
framework of the festival "Etudes of the North". Initially, the
museum had three traditional buildings: Selkup semi-dugout of the pre-Russian
period, the chalmate (log hut) of the XVII-XVIII centuries and the hut of the
Russian type. It was planned that over time seven more complexes would appear
in the museum.
According to Fokina, in 2017 the museum was updated:
there appeared a raw-hide tent (conical shelter of branches) with a birch bark
cover, birch bark booths (summer stand in the forest), a dwelling at the place
of hunting, a complex "Wood", in which the sacred trees for the
Selkup were planted. The complex also includes a "hunting trail",
where Selkup hunting inventory is presented.
"In this (2018) year to the "Etudes of the
North" we will continue to develop the exposition ... In the plans of this
year -is to equip the cult place of the Selkup and the settlement of the North
Selkup type. Two such complexes will appear here additionally", – the
agency interlocutor added.
She also noted that part of the ethnomuseum is planned
to be transferred under the roof. There are discussions about the construction
of the building, where authentic items of material and spiritual culture of
Selkups will be collected, as well as information material.
According to open sources, the cult place – is the
space dedicated to the divine powers and in itself having a special power.
Often these are natural places, such as sacred springs, special tree, landscape
or rock.
"Etudes of the North" – is the ethnic
festival of indigenous peoples of Siberia, which takes place in Parabel
district and every summer attracts several thousand guests from the Tomsk
region and neighboring regions. Usually Khanty, Evenkis, Chulyms, Shors,
Altaians, Khakass come to the festival.
