TOMSK, Feb 13 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists and undergraduates
of Tomsk State University (TSU) will take part in the project on studying individual
differences in education, achievements and endowments, which is being implemented
at the Center for Cognitive and Interdisciplinary Studies, created in "Sirius",
the press service of the university said on Tuesday.
Earlier it was reported that the
educational center for gifted children "Sirius" together with TSU and
Tomsk Polytechnic University will develop special programs for graduate students
of "Sirius" and master programs for the training of teachers to work with
gifted children.
According to the press service
of TSU, "Sirius" opens three research areas: mathematics and computer
science; genetics and life sciences; cognitive researches. Within the framework
of the third direction in "Sirius" was established the Center for Cognitive
and Interdisciplinary Studies.
"On the basis of this center
in "Sirius" start there start a longitudinal (long-term) project to study
individual differences in education, achievements and endowments. <…> The
project is being implemented by scientists of the International Centre for Research
in Human Development of TSU with the participation of undergraduates of the "Human
Development: Genetics, Neuroscience and Psychology" program", – is said
in the statement.
It is added that foreign and Russian
leading experts, scientists and students from other universities of the country
are also involved in the project.
"The "Sirius" is
visited by talented schoolchildren in various fields of activity - intellectual,
sports, art and musical. Complex study of the cognitive and other characteristics
of these schoolchildren will allow to test many hypotheses and gain new scientific
knowledge, which is necessary for the successful personalization of education", – the press service quoted the project manager, TSU professor Julia Kovas.
As reported on the site of "Sirius",
the purpose of the center (and the "Talent and Success" fund, which is
the founder of "Sirius") - is the early identification, development and
further professional support of gifted children who have demonstrated outstanding
abilities in the fields of arts, sports, natural science disciplines, as well as
successful ones in technical creativity.
