Feb 21 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of the Siberian
Physical-Technival Institute (SPTI) of Tomsk State University (TSU) developed a
new way of processing of metals for medical implants, which will increase their
survival in a human body, the press service of TSU reported on Wednesday.
It is specified that scientists presented a new way of increase in
roughness of a surface of walls of pores in porous materials on the basis of
titanium nickelide (TiNi).
"Such materials are used for creation of implants – for replacement
or reconstruction of bone tissues in maxillofacial surgery and stomatology.
Physicists explain: if to sustain a number of specifications in the course of
agglomeration of powder of titanium nickelide, then special terrasovidny reliefs
are formed on a surface of walls of pores, and it will improve survival of
implants", – it is said in the statement.
According to TSU, materials with a terrace-like surface of walls of
pores were received by method of agglomeration of powder of titanium nickelide
by the research associate of SFTI Sergey Anikeev. Earlier terrace-like
structures weren't observed in porous materials on the basis of TiNi. The
scientists of SFTI conducted the researches in-vitro and proved positive effect
from increase in roughness of a surface of walls of pores.
"Thanks to these terraces the implant gets accustomed in a human
body better and quicker as cells of marrow, liver, pancreas and others need a
possibility of attachment at the very first stage of filling of an implant.
<…> Documents for the patent are already sent, now the stage of
substantive examination passes", – the press service adds.
The way developed by the residents of Tomsk will allow to put necessary
structural characteristics at the production phase of alloy. Now scientists
study a microstructure of the received samples, reveal regularities of
formation of a terrace-like relief. Works are conducted with assistance of a
grant of the Russian Science Foundation on the presidential program of research
projects. All researches have to be finished to the middle of 2019.
