Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), the Nobel laureate Dan Shechtman will give
an open lecture about successful and unsuccessful stories of engineering
startups in the university, the press service of the regional administration
reports on Wednesday.
"Dan Shechtman will acquaint listeners with successful and, on the
contrary, unsuccessful examples of commercialization of developments in
universities. The lecture is dated for start of the course
"Entrepreneurship" in TPU. This course is developed for development
in among students-polytechnics of "soft skills" <…> necessary
for increase in their competitiveness in labor market and increases in market
orientation during creation of projects", – it is said in the statement.
It is noted that the course will become obligatory for students of
Polytechnic University from this year. The pilot course for students of School
of Computer Science & Robotics of TPU will be started in this semester.
It is added that Dan Shechtman is professor of the Israel Institute of
Technology Technion. He teaches technological business of engineers and
scientists worldwide more than a quarter of the century. He got the Nobel
Prize for opening of quasicrystals in 2011. Dan Shechtman heads the
International Scientific Council in Tomsk Polytechnic University.
The open lecture will be held in English, it will take place on April 6
in 234 audiences of the TPU main building. The beginning – 10.25. Preliminary
registration is necessary.
