TOMSK, Apr 5 – RIA Tomsk. Authorities of the Tomsk region made the decision to
hold forum of young scientists U-NOVUS in October in 2018; this year the forum
"will have the cross-border European-Asian focus connected with
development of the Russian intellectual potential", the press service of
the regional administration reported on Thursday.
It is specified that the head of the region Sergey Zhvachkin met the
Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Olga Vasilyeva in
Moscow. They discussed plans of participation of the Tomsk region in
realization of Scientific and Technological Development Strategy of Russia
(STDS). The rector of Tomsk State University (TSU) Eduard Galazhinsky and the
chairman of the supervisory board of TSU Harry Minkh also took part in the
discussion.
"The governor Sergey Zhvachkin … discussed ideology of the
forum of young scientists U-NOVUS with the minister which will take place in
Tomsk in October this year and will have the cross-border European-Asian focus
connected with development of the Russian intellectual potential", – it is
said in the statement.

It is added that the governor also submitted the concept of "road
map" on realization of STDS in the region to Vasilyeva and told about
results of "brainstorming" with rectors of all Tomsk universities and
institutes of RAS which the governor carried out the day before in Tomsk.
"Having successful experience of converting of scientific
developments in production technologies, the Tomsk region stakes on applied
researches. We see the main competitive advantage in comparison with other
regions exactly here: in training for new economy, in system introduction of
the know-how in production created in scientific laboratories", – the
press service cites words of Zhvachkin.
The minister supported approaches of residents of Tomsk in general, it
is noted in the message. Besides, she "noted the importance of the first
beyond the Urals university for development of the region and the country and
supported the idea to celebrate not only the 140 anniversary of Tomsk State
University, but also 140 years since the beginning of education of the huge
territory of Siberia and the Far East".
In turn, the press service of TSU with reference to Galazhinsky adds
that the universities have to work in collaboration for the sake of creation of
the general territorial ecosystem in modern conditions. "The project
(STDS) can be realized only by joint efforts of all participants of process,
and we learned by experience of TSU more than once that only cooperation with
partners can lead to a significant result", – his words are cited in the
message.
Earlier it was reported that the forum of young scientists U-NOVUS takes
place in Tomsk since 2014. In 2017 guests from Germany, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan,
France, Italy and Ecuador took part in it. All event of the forum were visited
by 22 thousand people. Upon termination of the forum Zhvachkin said that
U-NOVUS "overgrew national framework", and it is worth thinking,
"that next year it to get the status of international".
