9 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) became the third among the Russian
universities and improved its position among the world universities, having
risen by 16 points (the 240th place), and also retained its position in the top
hundred universities in the quality of teaching (the 79th place), the press
service of the university reports on Monday.
Earlier it
was reported that in 2017 in the ranking of RUR TSU took the 256th place among
the universities of the world (in 2016 - the 327th). Among the Russian
universities, the best results in 2017 were shown by Moscow State University
(the 145th place in the world), National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (the
231st place in the world) and TSU.
"TSU
became the third among the Russian universities in the ranking of the agency
Round University Ranking (RUR). University improved its position among the
world universities, having risen by 16 points (the 240th place), and has
maintained its position in the top hundred universities in the quality of
teaching (the 79th place), – is said in the report.

It is
specified that 783 universities from 74 countries took part in the RUR-2018
rating. According to international experts, TSU became the third among the
Russian universities, having conceded only to MSU (the 153rd place) and MEPhI
(the 224th place). In the rating of RUR, TSU improved its positions on research
activity - the 458th place (25 points increase), and on internationalization –
the 281st place (growth by 19 points).
"The
university demonstrated a significant growth in the direction of "research
activities", which assess, for example, the citation of scientific
publications, the international reputation of the university in the field of
research, the ratio of the number of scientific publications to the number of
teachers", – the press service quoted the director of the Information and
Analytical Center of TSU Irina Zholobova.
As it is
reported on the RUR website, the rating includes two more Tomsk universities:
Tomsk Polytechnic University in 2018 is on the 481st line (in 2017 – the 420th
place), Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radio Electronics – on
the 756th line (in 2017 – 729) .
The RUR rating – is the only Russian rating of universities in the world, is published
since 2010. It takes into account the quality of teaching and research, the
level of internationalization and financial sustainability of universities. The
rating includes 763 universities from 74 countries (including 67 universities
of the Russian Federation).
