9 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Faculty of Innovative Technologies of Tomsk State University (FIT TSU) assembled a laser machine on strontium vapors having a
large range of wave; the device will be used for environmental monitoring of
the atmosphere in Novorossiysk, the press service of the university reports on
Monday.
"(The
developed laser machine on strontium vapors) will allow to estimate existence
of aerosols in the atmosphere, to measure the sizes and concentration of
particles remotely and in real time… It is unique the fact that one laser bunch
contains 11 lengths of waves which cover very wide range – from 0,4 to 6,45
micrometers", – the press service quotes one of developers Alexey
Shumeyko.

It is
specified that the laser machine is manufactured for the benefit of Admiral
Ushakov Maritime University and it will be used for environmental monitoring of
the atmosphere over Novorossiysk – one of leaders in production of cement in
the Russian Federation. The cement plant of Novorossiysk unites several plants
with a full cycle of production and is a source of emissions in the atmosphere.
"The
laser on vapors of strontium can (also) be used to quality control of
production of cement works. Brands of this product depend on a grinding and the
size of particles. It is defined in vitro what requires time. Use of a lidar
removes this problem and allows not only to accelerate the process many times,
but also to exclude financial costs of the analysis", – the press service
explains.
Earlier it
was reported that TSU scientists manufactured the unsoldered laser on strontium
vapors for cutting of glass and ceramics by request of a Chinese company; the
laser is original development of TSU, has no analogs in the world and has many
opportunities of application, including in electronic industry, medicine and
ecology.
