© РИА Томск. Павел Стефанский TOMSK, May 18 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and Tomsk State University (TSU) in 2018 entered
the top 200 of the world rating of Times Higher Education (THE) by the share of
foreign students, taking 166 and 189 places respectively; among the Russian
universities in this ranking TPU was the third, and the TSU – the fourth, is
reported on the rating website.
The rating agency THE published a list of 200 universities in the world
with the largest share of foreign students. American University of Sharjah
(United Arab Emirates) is top of the list, with 83.8% of foreign students
studying, followed by London School of Economics and Political Science (70.5%),
the third is – Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (63.5% ).
TPU, where the share of foreign students is 28.8%, in the rating of 2018
was located on 166 line (in 2017 – 194), TSU (21.9%) – on the 189th place (last
year it was not included in the top 200).

Tomsk universities overtook Moscow State University named after
Lomonosov (21.5%, the 191st place), having passed National University of
Science and Technology "MISIS" (24.3%, the 162d place) and Peoples'
Friendship University of Russia (31.7%, 78th place). In total, the top 200
rating included five universities of Russia.
As the TPU press service informs, 3,6 thousand foreign students from 40
countries of the world are currently studying at the university. At TSU,
according to the press service, study almost 2.3 thousand foreigners from 50
countries of the world .
The rating of universities with the largest number of foreign students
is based on the institutional rating THE. Of all the universities included in
the institutional rating, universities with the largest number of foreign
students were selected and ranked on the basis of this criterion. This rating
is part of the overall rating of THE, the results of which will be published in
the fall of 2018.
