May 24 – TOMSK. Teacher of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) conducted Russian courses for residents of Mongolia and
courses of professional development for teachers of local schools; the similar
trip was organized by the university for the first time, the press service of
TPU reports on Thursday.
Earlier it was reported that in February, 2018 residents of the Tomsk
region collected 2,5 thousand Russian textbooks for residents of Mongolia. The
action was carried out within the initiative of the head of the region Sergey Zhvachkin
who received the corresponding request from the colleague – the governor of the
aimag Uvs Dayviynyam Batsaykhan.
"The request for the direction of a teacher to Mongolia. The
associate professor of our office Vera Vladimirovna Vydrina spent two weeks in
the city Ulaangom. Such educational event was organized by Tomsk Polytechnic
University for the first time together with the Center of Russian language and
culture", – words of the head of the Division for Russian Language of
School of Core Engineering Education of TPU Evgenia Sherina are cited in the
message.

It is added that lessons were not only for the Mongols learning Russian
language but also for teachers of local high schools for whom the teacher of
TPU conducted advanced training courses. 38 people were trained in total.
"For local population the practice-oriented lessons were conducted,
emphasis on grammar and drawing up dialogues was placed. The matter is that
Ulaangom is near border with Russia. The visa-free regime is set between our
countries. Mongols often go to the neighboring Republic of Tyva for the
solution of business matters, business with Russian businessmen", – the
press service quotes Vydrina.
It is noted that Russian language is learned only in 7-9 classes for two
hours a week in the Mongolian schools. Experience of carrying out courses of
Russian language in TPU is considered successful, representatives of the
university invited residents of Mongolia to arrive to Tomsk on traditional
summer school. Also TPU suggested Mongolian teachers to complete an intensive
course by a technique of teaching Russian language in June.
