Jun 8 – RIA Tomsk. Attache for education of the
Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in the Russian Federation Jose Aurelio Llaneza
Villanueva within the official visit to Tomsk visited Tomsk State University
(TSU); university expects to expand cooperation with Spanish universities and
to attract Spanish entrants, the correspondent of RIA Tomsk reports.
The attache for education of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in the
Russian Federation Jose Aurelio Llaneza Villanueva arrived in the Tomsk region
with a working visit on Friday. The diplomat met heads of regional education
sphere, representatives of language schools of Tomsk and visited TSU and the
Tomsk Polytechnic University.
"TSU have old contacts with Spanish universities, scientists, but
they have a personalized character. There are also graduates who work in Spain
long ago and successfully. But there are no such contacts at the level of the
management of the universities or official representatives of the Kingdom of
Spain yet. And this direction is extremely important for us", – the Vice
Rector of TSU for International Affairs
Artyom Rykun told at the meeting.
According to him, cultural and language influence of Spain in the world
is huge (Spanish is the second most widely spread in the world after the
Chinese), especially in the countries of Latin America. The Vice Rector added
that TSU signed six contracts with Spanish universities, three faculties of the
university teach Spanish.
"We have also students from Spain – there are just a few, but they
come every year. Also there are students from the countries of Latin America
which perceive Spanish as their native language... It would be good if their
number increased", – Rykun emphasized.

According to the attache for education of the Embassy of the Kingdom of
Spain in the Russian Federation Jose Aurelio Llaneza Villanueva, the
organization of close interaction of universities of Siberia with Spanish
universities is one of tasks, which he sets for himself. Additional
opportunities in this direction can open when carrying out Year of Spain in
Russia.
"Now there are negotiations on carrying out cross Year of Spain in
Russia and Russia in Spain. Within carrying out this year it would be
interesting to develop cooperation of Russian and Spanish universities", –
Villanueva told.
Earlier it was reported that the Spanish zoologists studying
invertebrates and hydrologists who explore mountain lakes, got interested in
the opportunity to work at the Aktru station of TSU in December, 2017.
