European Film Festival opened in Tomsk by French comedy

TOMSK, Oct 7 – RIA Tomsk. The opening of the Second European Film Festival took place on Sunday in Tomsk at two sites at once: in the international cultural center of Tomsk Polytechnic University (ICC TPU) and in the entertainment complex Fakel; Tomsk residents saw the French comedy "Rosalie Blum" of 2016, the correspondent of RIA Tomsk reports.

Earlier it was reported that the second EU Film Festival will be held in Tomsk from October 7 to October 19. Guests will see 15 films from 15 countries, including nominees for the Oscar and Cesar awards. Movies are designed for the mass viewers, and, according to the participants, represent their countries in the best light. The festival will be held with the participation of foreign directors and representatives of diplomatic missions of 18 EU countries.

The opening of the Second European Film Festival in Tomsk was held on Sunday at two sites at once: in Fakel and in the ICC TPU. The first film, which saw the guests, was the comedy of French director Julien Rappeneau "Rosalie Blum" of 2016. The film received the national film award of France "Cesar" in the "Best Debut" nomination in 2017. The picture was presented in the ICC TPU by the ambassadors of the EU and France to Russia Markus Ederer and Sylvie Bermann.

“The relations between the EU and the Russian Federation are now going through hard times, but it must be remembered that our cultural ties last for centuries. In continuation of this connection, today we are gathered with you to enjoy the beauty of cinema”, – Ederer said.

The EU Ambassador thanked the governor of the Tomsk region, Sergei Zhvachkin, for his help in organizing of the festival and establishing friendly relations between the countries.

“Politics – is not the main thing. The main thing – is human relations. The main thing - is love between people and love of life. These films help to strengthen these feelings”, – Zhvvakin said at the opening of the festival.

It was also reported that the first EU countries Film Festival took place in Tomsk in December 2017. Residents of Tomsk and city visitors watched 15 movies within 10 days devoted to the ideas of variety and pluralism.
