TOMSK, Oct 8 – RIA Tomsk. The Higher School of Journalism of
Tomsk State University (TSU) will open the Center for European Photography, in
which the best photographers of Europe and the Russian Federation will conduct
training in undergraduate and graduate programs, the press service of the
university told the agency on Monday. As the rector of TSU said at a meeting
with ambassadors of the European Union (EU), the center will be opened in
December 2018, the correspondent of RIA Tomsk reported.
"The Higher School of Journalism of Tomsk State University (TSU) ...
creates the Center for European Photography. It will become a platform for
educational and cultural projects which will be able to unite young, ambitious
photographers, journalists, filmmakers, art historians from Europe and
Siberia", – is said in the statement of the press service.
According to the press service, Tomsk students and young professionals from
Russia and Europe will become participants of seminars, master classes,
lectures and exhibition projects of the best European and Russian
photographers. It is planned to train specialists in undergraduate and graduate
programs together with major Russian and European media.
As the correspondent of RIA Tomsk reported, the presentation of the center
took place on Monday during the round table "University in the national
economy", which was held at the "Boiling Point". The event was
attended by the rectors of Tomsk universities and ambassadors and
representatives of diplomatic missions of EU countries. The rector of TSU
Eduard Galazhinsky announced to diplomats that the opening of the Center for
European Photography is scheduled for December 2018.

"If you or your colleagues have such an opportunity, we invite you to the
opening of this center. And we want to present invitations to the heads of
delegations in the form of photos made by your and our students' hands", – Galazhinsky told the ambassadors.
Earlier it was reported that the ambassadors of 13 countries of the European
Union (EU) to Russia, five deputy ambassadors and the head of the EU diplomatic
mission to the Russian Federation will arrive to the Tomsk region to study the
potential of the scientific and educational complex and agriculture of the
region. The visit, scheduled from 6 to 8 October, is unprecedented in its scale
for the regions of Russia.
