© РИА Томск. Таисия Воронцова TOMSK, Oct 20 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk athlete Turgai Mamedov won on
Saturday in the kickboxing European championship which takes place in the
capital of Slovakia Bratislava; resident of Tomsk rival from Azerbaijan in the
final match and became the first champion of Europe in kickboxing from Tomsk,
the athlete's trainer Kirill Bazayev reported to RIA Tomsk.
"Indeed, Turgai won in the European championship, executed the
standard of master of sports of the world class. He defeated the athlete from
Azerbaijan in the final, the athlete from Italy in a semi-final, the Belarusian
in the quarterfinal", – Bazayev told.
He added that the representative of Tomsk became the champion of Europe
for the first time. The Tomsk athlete Ilya Afonin became the bronze
prize-winner in 2014. As for Mamedov, his biggest achievement were two
victories on a World Cup in kickboxing. Thanks to the successful performance in
Bratislava the resident of Tomsk will become the region's third kickboxer –
master of sports of the world class.
As it was specified RIA Tomsk in federation of kickboxing of the Tomsk
region, Turgai competed at the European championship in weight category up to
71 kilograms. In the final match the resident of Tomsk was resisted by the
titled athlete from Azerbaijan Ramal Aslanov.
