TOMSK, Oct 23 – RIA Tomsk. Representatives of the Chinese and Indian diasporas suggest the management of the Siberian State Medical University (SSMU) to build rent housing fellow students at their own expense, the Vice Governor Evgeny Parshuto told to journalists on Tuesday.
As the Vice Governor told at the press conference in the RIA Tomsk media center, the second congress of builders and designers of the Tomsk region will take place on October 24 and 25 in the regional center. The rector of SSMU Olga Kobyakova will be one of speakers of the forum – she will tell about construction of rent houses for students.
"SSMU have problems with financing, and there is a requirement for accommodation of students, including foreign. There are proposals on construction of rent houses, including from foreign diasporas which students study here, – Chinese, Indian. There are resources for construction of rent housing for the students. Interesting approach, it is necessary to realize couple of projects to look if they are viable", – Parshuto told.

He added "foreign investments into development of the city is the benefit". "It is attractive". And the most important that it is attractive to students who will have good housing of high quality. Certainly, it will give a good impulse for Tomsk", – he emphasized.
Earlier it was reported that the share of foreign students of all forms of education in the Tomsk universities has grown from 5,1% to 18,2% in ten years. More than 10 thousand foreigners study now in Tomsk. Traditionally the greatest number of entrants comes to study to Tomsk from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Vietnam and Mongolia.
