TOMSK, Dec 16 RIA Tomsk. The work of chemists Alexey Lyapkov and Francis Verpoort became the most cited publication of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) scientists for five years; it is dedicated to metal-organic frameworks useful in chemical industry harmful effects reducing, the head of the publication activity development office Yulia Falkovich reported RIA Tomsk.

"The most cited publication of TPU over the past five years became the article of Alexey Lyapkov, the associate professor of the Research School of Chemistry & Applied Biomedical Sciences, and Francis Verpoort, the professor of the same school. The article published in 2015 in the journal Chemical Society Reviews was quoted 485 times", – Falkovich said.

According to her, the article presents the results of research on metal-organic frameworks – promising hybrid molecules which can act as effective catalysts for reducing the negative impact of the chemical industry on the environment. By the way, one more article of Verpoort on a similar topic closed the top three leaders of TPU rating of the most cited publications of the five-years period.

"The second most successful article in terms of citing was the work of scientists of the Research Center for Physical Materials Science and Composite Materials of Research School of Chemistry & Applied Biomedical Sciences Roman Surmenev, Maria Surmeneva and Anna Ivanova. It was published in 2014 in the journal Acta Biomaterialia, since then it was quoted 270 times", – Falkovich told.

Earlier it was reported that the Surmenev group modifies the surfaces of various metal implants, including biodegradable (based on magnesium alloys), which improve their "survival" in the human body and make it possible to more effectively restore bone defects, as well as synthesize new hybrid polymeric materials with improved mechanical and piezoelectric characteristics.
