TOMSK, Jan 9 – RIA Tomsk.Tomsk State University (TSU) and ENBISYS company will present essentially new
online course on mathematics in 2019 which will be equal in effect to
individual lessons with a teacher. Scenario of each lesson will change
depending on questions of the student, there is no such interactive training in

"To stick together"
a lesson
We have: the first-year
student who arrived on one of 20 faculties or institutes of TSU. Task: he has
to have a certain level on mathematics by the end of the first semester
(because сan't get along in the world without math).
But today considerable number
of students come to the first course with low knowledge of mathematics. The
huge amount of time, forces and other resources of teachers are necessary
"to push" them to the necessary level…
"Together with TSU (with
the Center of mathematical education) we develop the course of adaptive
mathematics essentially different from the existing online courses. It will be
the same individual training – that now is practiced in universities for work
with the lagging behind students – but with a virtual teacher, that is much
cheaper and at the same time not less effective", – the director of
ENBISYS Dmitry Bubnov tells.
In classical online training
little is taken into account in the degree of student involvement in each
particular moment. Developers of a new course on mathematics also want to
correct it: adaptive content will be adjusted on individual basic knowledge and
features of each pupil. First of all the platform has to "hear" his
inquiry …
"For the solution of this
task we built artificial intelligence from GoogleCloud in the platform – it
"is responsible" for exact recognition of the speech. Own ENBISYS
technology is responsible for fast delivery of a voice of a pupil from the
browser to the server of a cloud and back", – Bubnov explains.
Also programmers of the
company wrote algorithms which help to distinguish sense of the speech and to
allocate standard patterns of behavior instantly to choose the suitable
scenario depending on reaction of the user.
It looks so: a student in a
course of a lesson asks questions, the system distinguishes them and
"palms off" the educational content suitable in this specific case in
Real-time.
Specialists of the Center of
mathematical formation of TSU wrote down pieces of scenarios – units of
educational content, for example, devoted to some theorem. The program will
also make different options of lessons of them. Understood the theorem – the
scenario went on one way, there are questions – dwelt upon material …
"So far the course on the
platform will be one, according to the narrow section of mathematics (a formula
of abridged multiplication). Having proved that the technology works, we can
scale it on other sections of mathematics and on other disciplines which can be
formalized", – Bubnov says.

Experiments with a system
In February, 2019 the team has
to present the working prototype of the educational platform. The rector of TSU
Eduard Galazhinsky expects that the technology automates the whole cluster of
routine teaching work on tutoring and alignment of hundreds of students
annually in the future.
"It will allow teachers
to focus on scientific, research, on creation and development of schools of
sciences", – Galazhinsky says.
He emphasizes that electronic training –
only a part of the concept of development of the education system in TSU:
"I will give an example:
on the experimental course "Alternative History" we work now
technology when the concrete faculty gives the order for competences which have
to appear at its students within a general education course.
One more experiment – "a
bachelor degree kernel" when by means of general education courses we form
identity of the student of TSU at first-year students. It both certain set of
books, and critical thinking, and system analysis, and other qualities inherent,
in our opinion, to students of TSU", – the rector concludes.
