TOMSK, Jan 14 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists from the Czech Republic, Sweden and other countries within the framework of the largest international project INTERACT-II will conduct researches on climatology and ecology at the stations of TSU "Aktru", "Kaybasovo" and "Khanymey" to reconstruct fires and study tardigrades, the press service of the university reported on Monday.

It is reported that five research teams from Europe and the United States received the right to conduct research at Tomsk State University (TSU) stations: "Aktru" in the Altai Republic, "Kaybasovo" in the floodplain of the Ob River and "Khanymey" on Yamal. For example, representatives of the Woods Hole Research Center (USA) are planning to reconstruct forest fires at "Kaybasovo" to study climate.

"The researchers will “read” the chronicle of events on annual rings that reflect environmental conditions and allow to analyze many natural “disturbances”. Including these are fires, they, like a litmus test, record changes in temperature, humidity, precipitation and other parameters", – is reported in the release.

It is added that the Swedish scientists together with the staff of the TSU Laboratory of Hydrobiology and Fisheries using the example of a perch inhabitant of distrophic lakes – perch – will study genetic characteristics of fish that can survive in extremely difficult conditions. In July 2019, Czech scientists will study tardigrades at the "Aktru" station - the most mysterious representatives of invertebrates capable to survive in critical conditions.

"Researchers will conduct sampling at the "Aktru" station, study them using various methods, including molecular genetic ones. After "Aktru", our guests will go to the research station in Greenland and also collect samples to conduct a comparative analysis with data from other glaciers of the world", – the Director of the BioClimLand Centre of Excellence of Tomsk State University (TSU) Sergey Kirpotin is quoted in the message.

It specified that the Czech experts plan to study the relationship of certain types of tardigrades with types of glaciers and how far these micro-animals are capable of global resettlement. It is added that within the framework of the INTERACT-II project, researches will be conducted at several more Russian bases, some of which are part of the SecNet network created under the auspices of TSU.
